[like most mornings, mako heads down to the cottage to pick up a few things. unlike most mornings, when she gets there, there's only half a cottage. The other half missing piecemeal, simply vanished.

so she knows, now.

she packs a bag, her clothes and her things, carefully and deliberately. the rest will disappear soon. there's no point in half a cottage, after all. once the bag is packed, she heads back to where she's been sleeping. she doesn't look back. the rush of mojikara returning to her is all she needs to know.

she doesn't stop at the door or in the main room of the cabin, just grabs jiu wu by the arm, pulling him into his room without a word and shutting the door behind her. then she pushes him down onto the bed and curls up against his side]

I've been told I'm a lovely tenor.

Really?

[turns her head just a little, looking up at him without lifting her head. she wants to hear, but that seems like a lot for her to ask.]

Mmhm. My mother taught me.

Mm.

[that makes her bite her lip and turn her face back into her chest]

[ you don't even have to ask, bigsis. he'll start singing this one anyway ]

[presses her ear to his chest to listen. it sort of starts her crying again, but in the 'this is really pretty' way instead of the really sad way]

[ that crying's enough to get him to stop, though, because. crying ]

--I'm sorry. I'll stop.

[ and cuddle instead ]

No, don't stop. It's not that I'm sad.

Please don't stop.

[ just smiles a little and ruffles your hair

but he continues ]

[lets her head drop again, pressing her lips against his chest, brief and unthinking, before she goes still to listen]

[ he'll just keep that up for a while

with a few different songs ]

[and she does relax, as he sings, her eyes closing and her breathing evening]

[ he'll continue as long as needed, one hand cupping her head and holding her close ]

[she really does need that, and even when it becomes obvious that he's lulling her to sleep she's still holding onto him really tightly]

[ sleep is good and he'll just patiently cuddle and sing until she properly gets to that point ]
